Biography;
I am Rob Hendriks born in 1959.
My father was an university teacher and I wanted to be a teacher too.But in the time that I
followed my study there were to many teachers(maybe I wasn't also that interested in being a
teacher that time).When I was 19, I left school and start working as a salesman by a small company that sold
comercial tiles to stores and at markets.After 5 years my boss wanted to do
something else and I could take over his small ceramic bussiness,the molds etc.The only thing I
did the next years was pushing clay in always the same molds and sell the casts.It became to
comercial for me and I wanted to develop an own style.It tooks me years to realise
the style I can present today(though this style is so simple when you say it quick).
I never attended a teacher or any school.In fact my work today has as base an old oilpainting style,
highly adapted and in another context.I'm very proud of this unique style,it gives my pieces a
very special look and I can put my feelings and emotions in my work.
When I was 20 I married with the love of my life Greetje,a musicteacher and pianiste.In 1990 our
daughter Wilma was born.My plans for the future are to develop my further artistic.The technique is
there but I have to practice a bit further.Then I like to sell my pieces
and I hope to become famous...but maybe are my goals too high and at last I must be satisfied
with a life as teacher(like my poor old dad).
